About Us



Carroll Post 143 is assigned to District 5, Department of Georgia



On March 19,1935, thirty veterans of WW 1 signed a charter creating American Legion Carroll Post 143. Since it's inception, the Post has been a active contributor to the community and it's veterans and families.


A Memorial Bench has been placed in honor of the original members in the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park.


The Post Family consists of Legionnaires, Sons of the American Legion, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Collectively, we strive to the programs and services outlined in the Legion's "Four Pillars".

Pillar IV - Children & Youth


Membership Eligibility

To become a Legionnaire, one must have served on active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941 and have been honorably discharged or is currently serving.


To join now, please visit our MEMBERSHIP WEBPAGE and fill out the appropriate Application Form and send it to us for processing. We are looking forward to meeting you.


General Membership Meeting

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at the Carroll County Veterans Building beginning at 6:00pm. Because of COVID-19, no dinner meals will be served.






About



The American Legion is a service organization made up of veterans who served honorably in any of the military service groups and decided to continue serving their Country and community as Legionnaires. The American Legion was chartered by Congress on September 16, 1919 as a patriotic veteran's organization.
All Legion programs and activities are based on a mission goal statement of "For God and Country" and are defined by the "Four Pillars" which are explained as follows:


Pillar I: Veterans Affairs (Video)

The American Legion acts as the nation's leading advocate for proper health care, economic opportunity, and legal benefits for U.S. veterans.


Pillar II: National Security (Video)

The key positions are:

1. A well-funded military

2. Awareness and surveillance of rogue nations and terrorist groups

3. support for the Department of Homeland Security and protection of U.S. borders

4. A decent quality of life for troops and their families.


Pillar III: Americanism (Video)

the key positions are:

1. We take pride in the Flag

2. Stalwart champion of patriotism, morality, and citizenship

3. Devotion to law and order

4. Provide programs that meet the physical, educational, emotional, and spiritual needs of children and youth.


Pillar IV: Children and Youth (Video)

1. Strengthen the family unit

2. Support organizations that provide services for children and youth

3. Provide well rounded programs that benefit veteran's families
